In the early 1980s, Savinelli conceived the Balsa system, proven to be one of the most ingenious designs in the field of pipe manufacturing. A piece of Balsa wood is inserted in the shank of the pipe. This naturally absorbent wood helps trap the moisture and gives a cool, dry smoke.
